Changes to make to your Stripe account if your business changes its business name

If you change your business name while keeping the same Plannit account, here's what you need to do to update your Stripe account for online payments

  1. Go to your Stripe account settings

  2. Click on “Business” and make any necessary changes so that the information matches what is listed in the Quebec Business Registry (REQ)

  3. Fill out the following tabs:

    1. Account details:

      1. Make sure the information is still correct.

    2. Business details:

      1. Company details:

        1. Click “Edit” and enter the information:

          1. NEQ Number

          2. QST Number

          3. etc

      2. Public details:

        1. Click “Edit” and enter the information that needs to be corrected

        2. The “Statement descriptor” is the name you want to appear on the credit card statement of your customer who uses online payment to pay their bill.

      3. Management and ownership:

        Ensure that the individuals listed here match those in the REQ registration (directors)

    3. External payout Account (bank account number where payouts will be made) and transfer frequency (keep set to “Automatic Daily”)

      1. Bank accounts: If the bank account is different, delete the displayed account and enter the information for the new bank account to which you want transfers to be made daily.

      2. Payout schedule: Always select automatic daily payout

      3. Minimum balance: You can set a minimum balance that must remain in your Stripe account

Once these changes have been made:

You will most likely see a message from Stripe in your account asking you to submit, via a link, the legal documents supporting these changes. This is simply to verify that your business is legitimate.
