You can now replace the default Google Maps address circle with a customized fence. This allows you to better manage entrances and exits to zones, as well as visually identify the intervention area.

It can also be an invaluable tool to help you calculate a land area to define your pricing in your quotes and invoices!

Define a fence on an address

Here's how to customize the fence of an address:

  1. Use the pencil to edit an address. This address can be edited in contact or in other contact address editing windows in the application.

  2. Click on the Map tab, then on the fence editing tool.

  3. Draw a fence and close it with the first point you created. Use the trashcan icon to start the fence again.

💡 Note that you now have an area in square meters and square feet in the Geoferencing field!

  4. Click on Save address to finish.

Read this important note 👇

Would you like to automate the status Started and Completed on a visit when you enter and leave a scope of work on an run?

If automating status on visits is not an option that interests you, this note is less relevant to you.

It's important to understand that fences are used to detect the entry and exit of an area for a visit associated with a route. The cell phone's GPS sends GPS positions at a set frequency and distance. The default value for sending positions is every 5 seconds or 10 meters.

You should also understand that the GPS accuracy of a cell phone is of the order of 5 meters under optimal conditions. The quality of the GPS signal received by the mobile can greatly influence this accuracy. For example, in the downtown area of a large city with tall buildings, GPS accuracy is greatly reduced, and you can quickly find yourself 20 meters from your actual location.

👉 Your fences must be designed accordingly!

Here's an example of what not to do:

What you could do:

Tip

Currently, you can only define one fence per address. However, you can use this little trick to link two sections together.

Display a fence on a route

When you view or edit a route, fences are automatically displayed if they have been defined.

Tip

Forgot to define a fence on an address? Use the little pencil to edit the address directly in the route!

Display a fence on an run

Like a road, fences are displayed by default! However, in the output options, you can hide them if you wish.
